Bek Tunks - Student Veterinary Nurse

Bek is a proud participant in the Victorian Dog Rescue foster program. This program helps dogs to find a home by placing them in a caring, loving environment and giving them the opportunity to relax. This often helps dogs that have behavioural problems or anxiety disorders. So far, Bek and her partner have been foster parents to six dogs with various issues and all have been successfully placed with loving new families. Bek’s involvement with the foster program prompted her to pursue her goal of becoming a veterinary nurse and she has just begun her Certificate II in Animal Studies. Bek owns Rusty, a Staffy X Heeler, who is always patient and welcoming to his new family members!

Julie ShanhunJulie Shanhun - Student Veterinary Nurse

Julie previously worked as a vet nurse for 4 years and has completed her vet nurse training to a Certificate II level. She took a year off from nursing to study her Certificate III in Pathology Collection, but missed vet nursing too much and is now enrolled in her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Julie is interested in clinical pathology and is keen to further her knowledge in this area. Julie’s gentle manner means she is very compassionate towards her patients and her calm composition means she deals quickly and efficiently with emergency situations.

Julie and her family own Chippy, a 6 yr old Jack Russell Terrier and Maisie, a 7 yr old Abyssinian X. They also own Norm, a bald Cockatoo, which means he can’t fly! All three pets play together in the back yard – an incredible sight to see!
